Not sure how many of us Porland/Vancouver brew dudes are on this forum but FH Steinbarts is having a National Brew Day event May 7th.

Here is a copy of the email I received:

It's that time of year again, National Homebrew Day is just around the corner. We are excited to inform you that we are an official site of the American Homebrew Association's Big Brew Event. We participated last year and our site was responsible for brewing over 100 gallons of homebrew, we're hoping to top that this year!

Here's the rundown:
We will be opening up our parking lot on National Homebrew Day (May 7th) to anyone interested in brewing some beer! That's right, just bring down your gear and brew some beer in our parking lot. This is a global event so we will be making beer as part of a global home brewing family!

We ask that you bring your own gear if you want to brew. If you just want to come hang out and learn, that's allowed too! One of our staff will be teaching a malt-extract class in the warehouse. There's sure to be some great home brew to taste and plenty of nice folks to meet, we hope to see you there!

Our Mission:
Our mission is to grow the Home-Brewing community in Portland, through grass-roots events like this. We encourage you to bring a friend who doesn't and share the love of this, one of America's greatest hobbies!

TripHops...

I have 15 US gallons to bottle...It would be enough to make me seriously dislike the hobby if I did not have beers to drink while doing it :D

I need to dry hop a IIPA, transfer a APA that's ben on primary for 3 weeks and then brew a Hefe.

National Homebrew Day coincides with the Derby, so no one (that I'm aware of) celebrates it here in sunny Louisville, Kentucky.

Are you going to brew one of the AHA recipes or something else?

I'm leaning toward a saison but I am also consodering a traditional hefe.

I brewed an Arrogant Bastard clone on wednesday. It is bubbling like crazy still haha

My Bohemian Pilsner from yesterday is bubbling away at 50 degrees this morning.

Also took the opportunity to keg 10 gallons of Brown ale during the 120 minute long boil of the Pilsner.

Double decoction + 120 min boil + kegging 10 gallons = long and full (yet satisfying) brew day!

Happy Holiday guys! :mug:

My saison is absolutely raging at 80*F
I might rack some onto raisins after primary, and dry hop some as well.

happy holidays indeed

I'm soaking my BK in PBW after a bit of scrubbing with a dobie. Then onto the stove to start my ale. Shooting for a dark amber/brown color. Then late boil/steep additions of Perle & Saaz hops. Still gotta scrub the cooper's micro kit fermenter one more time before sanitizing.
But my wife's 1st batch she did yesterday,a BB summer ale, started bubbling a bit this morning with the US-05. 11G of ale,...oh my!:tank:

I brewed my first Weissbier which was also my first original non clone beer. I have it in a swamp cooler and it id fermenting away nicely at 62 degrees.

I built a Igloo MLT on Friday and brewed my first AG on Saturday. It was an AHS Anniversary Blonde Rye.

I made a belgian strong ale and I used yeast that I harvested for the 1st time.

made 5 gallons of california common, in total there was 45 gallons brewed at the LHBS.

Well,my wife's summer ale is showing signs of life, albeit slowly, since the US-05 was pitched dry. I figured, since it's 11.5g,it might be enough,& it's a fresh one, since the kits just went on JW Dover's shelves 2 weeks ago. Yeast & Breise LME in the fridge, hops in the freezer. All seems well.
Now,if the darn electric stove will finish gettin my BK to a boil,I can start my brown ale. Gettin close to a boil...

Got my ale in the fermenter. Filling, stirring hydro testing. Dang, she beat me. Her OG last evening was 1.050. Mine at 6:25pm today, was 1.046. Close, but no cigar, lolz.
Anyway, those are both two good Og's for average gravity brews. Just think, next month,we'll have 11G of 2 different ales for sittin in the shade with the bbq pit! YEEEEEHAAAW!!

No brewing, but I did get to build the beds for my new hops plants yesterday. Hoping I can find time to brew up a batch of American Lager this week. We'll see.

It always amazes me how tall hop bines can get! I see many folks pegging twine to the ground, then up to the gutter! Man,those things can grow. I'd need a 40' ladder to get to the top ones. Not to mention,a newspaper sack to hold them while picking.

Brewed BM's Centennial Blonde for the non-hopheads. Nice full Krausen whilst sitting in the fermetation chamber at 67F since yesterday afternoon.

Well, the summer ale my wife brewed Saturday is bubbling, sure & steady. But not crazy, just steady & even with the US-05 yeast. Mine just started bubbling intermittently about 2 hours ago,an ale I brewed Sunday afternoon. Ferment temps in the high 60's.

Brewed a Belgian Saison on Saturday. My first Partial Mash brew - used a cooler-converted into a mash-tun based on the wonderful instructions here on HBT.

Also demonstrated brewing to a couple of friends.
