well honestly my gut told me france imediatly....but i rarely trust my gut when it's that fast....

Not the Med, although I'm sure they'd be flattered by the comparison.

There is a connection with one we've had recently.

There are a number of other items that are red, yellow and black however. It's a decent guess. Check perhaps the order of the colors.

I'm a car guy but I'm not seeing much to help out. I'm quite sure it's not the US though. No indication I can see of what side of the road they drive on.

The comment about it being connected to a recent one is interesting. But it's (probably) not South Africa, it's not New York, it's not Utah... We did Frankfurt recently. And Spain.

I'm typing a post, so I should take a guess... Spain!

Google can't tell me where Marad Alam is - sounds Arabic or African? - but it's not that.

I'd not noticed the flag but it's not a national flag, I guess it must be some kind of beach safety or lifeguard thing. There's a second one towards the bottom, but it doesn't seem to make much difference as to where people are swimming!

It's not South Africa, and it's not Spain, and I'll repeat - it's not the Med - but Spain is less cold than most of the guesses so far without being particularly warm.

Seems like we are headed further north in Europe. I looked at a page for the "11 best beaches in England" and to my surprise some did actually have elevation features around them. Particularly one...

Are we in Yorkshire?

That’s a surf lifesaving flag. Designated surf patrol area. If you get into trouble the Hoff or Pamela Anderson will come and save you. Maybe give you mouth to mouth. Might be best just to keep out of the water.

The colours are international but I’m not sure where they are actually in common use. Definitely are in NZ.

and on germany beaches..

Surendorfer strand(sp?) germany?

edit: or maybe strandoase....

It is indeed Pendine Sands in South Wales, the British equivalent of Bonneville. Sir Malcolm Campbell broke the landspeed record three times there in the 1920s, advancing it from 145mph to 175mph before moving to Daytona Beach and then in 1935 setting the first record at Bonneville in the first car to break 300mph. In 2000 his grandson set a UK electric land speed record of 137mph at Pendine.

The picture shows the main straight at Pendine which is 4 miles, with another three miles around the corner. The estuary of the rivers Taf and Towy is in the background, and beyond that is another fast car place, Pembrey Circuit, the main home of Welsh motorsport which used to be a favourite for Formula One testing.

@Brewsmith, you're up.

That one took some time on google maps and the current site has more going on than the photo.

Ok here we go.

I’ll bump it and not only say it’s in the right region, but we’re also in the right state, North Carolina
