Plan on brewing 7 gallons of muntons lme maris otter light and 3 pounds bries dme light. 1 oz german hallertau at start of boil and 1 oz cascade at flame out. And dry hopping 1 oz cascade in fermenter. Do I just throw in a mesh bag of hop pellets or do they have to be sterilized. Thanks for any advice.

I just throw my hops in the boil. You can use a muslin bag to help strain the hop debris if you want to. I was thinking of buying a hop spider, & using it when i brew a hoppy IPA.

I have a hop spider for the boil. But in the fermenter, I just dump in the hops. They will make their way to the bottom, eventually.

Hops do not need to be sterilized. They have antimicrobial properties in them. It is ok to just toss in the fermentor even for dry hopping. But, if you choose to dry hop in a muslin bag, then you will need to sanitize the muslin bag, but the hops will not need to be sanitized.
