a clone recipe states OG - 15.7....FG - 4.1

brewmate says that's 9+ abv

the recipe says it's 6.29%

what gives?

Is that in Brix?

If that's Brix, it's pretty close. .. I calc it out at about 6.6%.

whats the formula for calculating ABV from Brix?
Edit - found one for Plato - (Start - finish) * 0.52 = but that gives 6.032% ABV??????????

There's nothing wrong with Brix . I now use my refractometer from day one , from mash to boil and through the fermentation, I now only do one hydrometer check and that's on bottling day.
