My Hop Is Dying?

Hello, everyone!

About 4 months ago my hop (cascade rhizome) started to grow. Was a good and fast grow, with a beautiful plant. But, about 3 or 4 weeks ago my hop started to show some disease.

There are a lot of leafs with this problem: it starts to dry on the corners, then die. This is happening in all the plant (about 2m hight).

Some apical gems died too, but in other hand, there are a lot of new lateral gems starting to grow.

Is this a disease, or some nutrition deficiency/excess?

Some details: I live in the South of Brazil, here the temperature is about 77oF and the hop takes sunlight in the morning, after that, it stays on partial shade.

Does your soil have good drainage? Is the humidity high where you are? Sort of looks like a rotting of the leaves to me which can be caused by too much water, poor drainage, lack of sunlight, and high humidity. They love water but they hate sitting in it. They love as much sun as they can get as well. If you're only getting morning sun they might be getting too humid or wet causing the plant to struggle. Could you post a few pics of your setup and the soil? How old are the plants? What have you given them so far in terms of fertilizer?

I do agree... it does look like too much water around the roots by the look of the "rotten" leaves, and some sunburn too (brown dry part). If you are looking for some expertise in Brazil for hops, I will send you a name in a private message.

That first picture clearly shows a water-soaked infection front, this is more than just stress, it's a fungus of some kind. Trouble is that in the tropics you can have all sorts of non-standard diseases but in the main hop areas you'd be working on the assumption of Verticillium or some kind of Phytophthora - Googling those names may help find you some more symptoms to look for.

The fact that nobody pointed out how much mold is on his coconut coir and how wet it is, is more troubling than anyone commenting on the plant. These plants are severely over-watered
