Here is my first attempt at a thought out recipe for a Spitfire like Classic English pale ale:
2kg pale ale malt
1.5 kg light LME
.25 kg crystal malt 40L
I mashed the crystal and pale together
1.25oz goldings 60mins
.75oz Fuggles 30mins
1.25oz fuggles 15mins
1oz fuggles DH 5
Bottled day 10 in 750ml bottles with single carb drop to minimise carbonation and better emulate a true pint of pale ale.
So far so good. Nice hop aroma and tastes with a slight nutty maltiness
