I came up with this recipe last night, i know virtually nothing about Reds. Any suggestions?

7lb Light LME
2LB Amber LME
.5lb brown malt
.5lb caramunich

2oz target 90 & 60(B)

2oz nuggett 30(B) 5(F)

I've asked the board before and haven't gotten an answer so far. What does "Imperial" mean?

I mash my reds hot and go up to 1-1/2 hours with mash and two sparges combined. I think it brings out more tanins and thus twang.

I guess - think about it a little. There is more to consider than just ingredients.

...also note: If you title your threads right (You did good on this one) you will have somewhat related threads show up at the bottom of the page to investigate.

Imperial refers to the strength. It is a higher alcohol interpretation of any style, usually headed north of 8%, sometimes well north. :)

I plan on doing a 90min boil, i also talked to a few people thus far and have come up with this

12lb Amber LME
1.5 Crystal Mail 30L
.25 Brown Malt

1oz Target at 90m
1oz Target at 60min
1oz Nugget at 30min
1oz Nugget at 5min

should be close to 9%

Any other suggestions? Also plan to use American Ale Yeast, or possibly a twist with a Belgian yeast.... maybe on round 2.
