Ok, I did it. Brewed my first batch of brew today. Took a lot longer than expected, mostly because I had an electric stove that takes forever to boil that amount of water/wort.

Making Irish Stout, all went well.

It's in the primary and fingers crossed that the yeast does its job.

Just have 1 question, Why does everything have a bitter hops smell now? Think that initial blast from the brew pot really got to me.

Already planning my next brew, any suggestions?

Bill
Primary: Irish Stout
Secondary: Waiting for Stout

Thanks,

I really got to give credit to my local home brew store. They are fantastic.

If a newbie can give advise to other newbs, seek out your local brew store. They really helped me out with advice, training and support....go Weak Knee you rock.

Congrats on the firstbrew, as far as the next one? I personally like to alternate between light & dark as much as possible, it keeps things mixed up. So I would suggest a Pale Ale of some sort for your next brew. :mug:

And then prepare for the fermenter belching...my favorite part of the brew process. The aroma was so wonderful during the fermenting of my current batch of double chocolate stout that I wanted to sit on the floor with some rubber tubing and drink directly out of the carboy.

As for recommendations...it all really depends on personal preference...I just finished a beautiful Amber Ale, and next up is a Hefe...
