I know there's a thread (or 100) on here with excited first beer pics, but I scrolled through 5 pages and didn't find one. Apologies for the site clutter. Here it is. A witbier, it's really good. Sweet malt and citrus up front with hops toward the end. Clove and pepper in the finish with enough residual flavor of the entire combination to leave a nice taste on the tongue.

Looks tasty. Congrats on your first brew. I just cleaned my kitchen up and preparing for my first brew as well. Hope mine comes out as well as yours. I'm going with an Irish red.

ChessRockwell Wyeast 3944 Belgian Witbier

Meatboy it will, just do what you're supposed to do. Read up on the process before you do it and take notes. I wrote myself a timeline and a brewing list so I wasn't missing any ingredients or steps.

Mux Will? It already has. I picked up a free chest freezer and a temp controller. My 3rd batch is in primary now... and my girlfriend loves beer and is having fun too!

Congrats man!! That's really awesome!

I'm making my first batch (currently in the primary) and its the same kind except I'm making the rookie mistake of trying to get fancy by adding mango lol

Your brew looks so delicious!

Do you have a second batch coming up? If so what kind? (I'm still trying to decide which style to brew next)

On my third. I have an oatmeal stout that's done for the most part but needs more bottle conditioning time. In the fermenter now is an imperial stout I'm hoping to be ready by fall. The mango will be awesome. We racked a gallon off the witbier and let it sit on grapefruit peel for a week before bottling, we'll be trying it this weekend.

That is awesome! I am a bit intimidated by the Imperial Stout but that is the style that I want to brew the most.

Did you go partial mash or all grain on that one?

Do you mind sharing the recipe and instructions you used?

Northern Brewer has a an Extract Russian Imperial Stout kit...My buddy brewed it last year, turned out great and he said it was really easy to brew. Every Year my wife and I throw a winter party...I'm planning on making the RIS with cocoa nibs and bourbon soaked oak cubes! (toying with idea of adding cherries too, but I don't want to go crazy)

JDFlow - I'm sorry to hear that your girlfriend loves beer...My wife loves good craft beer too, which can be good and bad. She loves hitting up breweries and stuff on vacation, but my home brews are going faster than I can brew. I only have a case left of my Cascadian Dark and I haven't even moved my Imperial RyePA to the secondary. hahaha
