Hi guys,
Just would like to share my build, I will go light on the technical details as I am posting this more to give people ideas of a cheap rims set up. However I will try and respond to questions.
The video first
[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-X14JsWUVc[/ame]
So the set up consists of the following major parts;
8 gallon kettle
Bag
1000 watt 110v single burner element
12 volt pump
controller
This is a traditional BIAB set up, full volume single infusion is was I do, however most likely will try some step mashing now. I went electric as a way to hold a steady temp as most of you know is really hard to do with a propane burner. I still use propane for the boil.
The pump serves a few purpose, it's main use is for circulation, however it also allows me to whirlpool and makes transfer to the primary a breeze!
The main Controller:
Uses a mypin t4a, with a 25 amp SSR and a k-type thermocouple. The box is a simple plastic tool box to house everything, with a master kill switch and 110 volt indicator light. I used simple household boxes and parts for my switches and outlets. For cooling I use an old laptop CPU fan, however without the fun running I do not generate that much heat. This set up is only really good for 1000 watt max IMO, mainly due to the 25 amp ssr and the wire gauge.
I have the PID function dialed in well (for me at least). Maintaining between .3 +- set point. I found the auto tune was useless, however my settings are as follows
P= 0.58
I=14
D=5
I hope this gives people some info and mainly ideas as I had a hard time finding some one with a set up like me!
