Hello friends,
I got a can of Mr Beer extract in the super-cheap, but the expiration date on the can is 5-20-17. Not out of date, but not exactly fresh.
It is the Grand Bohemian Czech Pilsner. Yes, I know that Pilsners usually ferment with Lager yeasts but Mr. Beer refills all use the same yeasts (ale yeast?) anyway, right? I do not have refrigeration capability and need to ferment at room temp.
I'm thinking of substituting the Mr B yeast with fresher yeast. I have some Muntons 491 that I'm considering using in it.
Is this a good idea or a bad one???
Thanks!
