I'm moving... to a house about 5 miles away. I have several beers in carboys currently. I'm not sure how I should proceed with moving the carboys without disturbing the airlock and possibly oxidizing the beer.

Anyone been through this before? Ideas?

Thx.

Maybe use a solid stopper instead of driller stopper and airlock. That will eliminate the chance of any new air getting into the carboy. This would only be safe if they are past primary fermentation. If not, then you're riding with a big glass grenade strapped beside you....

However, five miles is not far. If they are still fermenting, then just strap them in good with the airlocks attached and drive slow.

when i moved into the new pad i had a beer in secondary...
had the wife drive and i kept her on my lap. worked out just fine

Thanks for all the ideas guys. These should be done fermenting at that point, so sanitized wrap or foil will probably work best... along with a slow, careful drive across town.
