Mother of All Starters

Just got back from visiting one of our sister companies that makes grain alcohol. Got to see their yeast starters in action. Two 50,000 gallon aerated tanks. They run a semi continuous fermentation system off these. Now that is some serious yeast propagation!

They make alcohol for the spirit industry and industrial use. Highest purity in the industry. No pictures, cameras not allowed. All you would have seen is two "big ass" tanks. They store 2 million gallons on sight.
