I am making a batch of Poor Richards Ale http://homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=17157 today, and it calls for .25 lb molasses. All the molasses that I could find was sold by volume, so I have 12 fl oz, which weighs considerably more than a quarter pound. ProMash lists the potential SG for molasses as 1.036.

Is there a way to use that number to figure out the volume that I need?

EDIT: I hate it when I misspell something in the title

For molasses, 8 fluid ounces is the same as 10 dry weight ounces. So, 12 fluid ounces is 15 dry weight ounces, which is almost a pound. Using 3 fluid ounces should be close enough.

Awesome thanks guys. I had estimated it to be about 2 tablespoons, although now I cant find the scrap of paper that led me to that conclusion.

I finished the batch a while ago, but due to abhorent efficiency, my OG was about 20 points low. I compensated with DME and a quarter cup more molasses. That should bring my gravity up about 10 points and at least put me in the "acceptable" zone.
