I have wondered the same thing. I use one of those Kettle Screens in my kettle and I have had some trouble with it getting clogged in the kettle.

I was using the braid in my 10 gallon MLT and thought about trying the kettle screen but I used the 3/8" ball valve so never gave it a try. My thought too was that the holes might be too big.

I have since gone to a copper manifold.

Any other opinions/experiences?

I love the kettle screen because I can simply unscrew to clean. But I am worried about a stuck run off.

I also thought about putting SS braid over the screen. That would be kind of cool as well.

hmmmm, that might be a good idea.

I was thinking of how you could inclose the TOP of that filter so the grain bed wasn't able to mash into it. Foil might even work.

But if you have a braid to slip over the filter, that might be your best bet.

This is essentially the same thing as the old "Bazooka Screen". Anyone use one of those as a MLT filter?

I use one of these in my MLT, # ATS758
