I was thinking about making a funk american ipa and I was wondering if I would have any problems mixing san diego super and sour mix in the primary?
I was thinking about pitching the sour mix after the san deigo super was almost done but i wanted to leave something for the sour mix to work with. Any suggestions?

any sour mix will be able to work on even a fully attenuated beer since they will use the sugars (among other things) that are unfermentable to regular yeast.

also the sour bugs may do strange things to the hop flavor and aroma, like strip it away. if you used just some Brett strain you would keep the IPA characteristics and get some funk. the sour mix may bring the gravity down really low and you'd just have a sour beer.

d you want funky or sour, or both?

Lacto won't work in beers with IBUs much above 5. Pedio will though. Brett will too.

You could always blend a beer. Make a no hop beer, pitch just the sour mix. In a few months, when it's sour to your liking, brew a separate IPA using the San Diego yeast, then blend the finished beers to taste. You can dry hop the combination too.

If you just want funk, pitch some strain of Brett onto the beer in a secondary, after the san diego is done.

That really helped with planning this beer thank you guys.
