I went to the garden center yesterday because my fig tree has been getting yellow leaves. I also brought along a hops leaf that was getting white and splotchy (looks like the "iron deficiency" that a lot of posts talk to).
The guy looked at the leaf under a microscope and told me that I had mites on both plants, so I bought some oil based spray to take them down.
The point of the post is that my leaves looked like the ones in the deficiency threads, but it turned out to be microscopic mites, so it may pay for anyone with issues to take a leaf into a good garden store to ask the question. I was about to go and buy some ironite, but instead left w/bug stuff.
