I got in a hurry yesterday when I got home from the HBS and inadvertently threw my smack pack of Wyeast 1728 in the closet along with my grains and various other supplies. By the time I realized my screw up, it had spent 14 hours in the closet at 64 degrees before I could get it back into the frig.

My question is-did I hurt the little beasts any? I planned on doing a 2L starter originally, would I need to go bigger to make up for any loss in viability?:confused:

I wouldn't do anything differently, and I think you'll be fine. What kind of treatment do you think the yeast gets between the manufacturer and the LHBS?

Ruined them for sure. When the batch of beer is done and bottled you might as well box it up and send it to me to drink...Um I mean safe disposal. :D

Actually yeast are quite resilient. I wouldn't worry about such a short amount of time at all.:rockin:

all true.

200 years ago brewers didn't know the magical little beasties even existed. bet they were treated real rough back then
