Is there such a thing as a mini fridge that will fit a carboy without first needing to have shelves etc removed? Essentially a kegerator but without the tap, lines, etc...

If there is one without any shelves on the door then yes. Otherwise no, you'll have to take a dremel or some other tools to get that off.

That's wha† I'm asking...does anyone know if there's company that sells them "plain" inside?

There's a wine fridge at SAMs club that works. It's the $179 one with the glass door.

I just picked up an EdgeStar kegerator (no tower, lines, etc.) for around $280 shipped on Amazon. Plenty of space and no modification needed!

I just bought a Magic Chef 4.4 from HD for around $130. I had to cut out a notch in the front door to fit my 7gal carboy. The carboy itself fit, but I had to pull it forward a little to get the airlock in.
I "think" it will fit a 5 gallon just fine with an airlock.

They will, you're just gonna have to look around. Most of them are made by only 1-2 different manufacturers. They are then rebranded and sold to different companies who ordered them specifically with or without doors/shelves/etc for use as mini fridges or kegerators.

As far as plain jane with nothing on the doors, you may end up paying more. But it may also be worth looking on Craigslist for a deal too if you feel comfortable with it. I bought my ferm chamber local thru Craigslist for less then $50. Had to dremel the stuff off the door but either way it was very very cheap.

This one will work. There's another thread on here about this one. It fits SSBrewtech brew buckets, regular buckets, and carboys.

I have a mini fridge from craigslist that was $25 but it has shelves in the door to remove before my fermentors will fit. I am too unskilled so I will need to hire someone to do the work.

Can't beat that price though! Also will need to get an stc 1000 or inkbird.

Thanks for the tip!
Just looked at it on Amazon...what makes it "Ultra Low Temp"? What are the internal dimensions?

Any of the kegerators that come without accessories like the tower work without any modification needed. That's one of the reasons I bought the EdgeStar mentioned above versus hacking apart a normal mini fridge.

+1 for the basic Edgestar from Amazon - I got the same unit. It's just the fridge part of the KC2000 units that sell with the tower and other parts for a full kegerator. the internal dimensions are listed as "Internal Dimensions: 28" H x 16 3/4" W x 15 1/2" D" on Edgestar's site. Gives you a lot of room with no modification - my Brew Bucket fits with ease. Not the cheapest route, but easy, and you could convert it to a kegerator later if you wanted to.

I have a GE mini-fridge that fits a bucket with minor modification. I picked it up second hand from a coworker a long time ago. Pull the wire rack out and it fits a bucket. It needs a blowoff tube because the airlock won't fit.

(I haven't gotten back to brewing after my move. getting the fridge reconfigured today was my first step.)

Ultra Low Temp means it has a decent compressor versus a wine cooler and can cool much more rapidly. As to the internal dimensions, someone else already stated them, but I can easily fit by SS Brew Master bucket with plenty of room to spare (including the airlock) into it. The floor, not including the shelf area is larger than 15"x15".

I have a used G E that fits a 6 gallon better bottle without modification
