Hey everyone. I'm brand new to the home brewing and the boards. I just got my Midwest equipment and ingredient kit today. I'm pumped and am going to brew this weekend. I'm a hop head. Any suggestions and the best way to hop this beer up? Should I use the yeast it came with or pick up some at LHBS

Thanks everyone

I would make it as received instead of trying to modify the recipe. The only thing I would do differently is only use about a pound of LME for the 60 minute boil and then add the other 5 pounds just after the 60 minutes is up.

Ok so I added 1lb of dme
OG turned out to be 1.08 when it should have been 1.042 to 1.046
Could the dme made that much of a change? I would think so. My thought is that I didn't use hydrometer correctly.

Also - thoughts of dry hopping this with some cascade in the secondary?

So I think I didnt properly mix before taking the reading so I was measuring the concentrated stuff....my first brew
