I have a volt/amp meter to put in my brewing panel. The amp part is a torroid transformer coil. From what i read i need to let the live 240v wire from my inlet receptacle pass through it. My question is can i lengthen the wire of the transformer coil to position it far from the meter or should i use a longer 10 awg wire to reach it? If the answer it to lengthen the coil wire. Will it need to be away from every other wire to prevent induction and false amp reading. And what gauge of wire should be used? Thank you all im advance.

Yes, but just one of the hots should go through it.

Either will do so do whichever gives you the cleaner installation.

No but you could twist the pair to minimize coupling into it if you like.

And what gauge of wire should be used?
The same size wire as in the leads that are currently attached can be used. The secondary of a current transformer carries appreciably less current than the primary though the open circuit voltage can get quite high.
