Bad, they are not built to hold the higher pressure of beer.
OK, for making yeast starters, or anything that does not have to hold pressure.
If your making mead, wine, etc its OK, beer=C02=pressure. Not good, think glass hand grenades.

Ha ha, I know, right?! BEN25 is a prima donna too... man, what a jerk!

LOL:D

So, what are you prima donnas gonna do about this? Huh? You got a problem?

You got it!

Jees Ben25, what makes you think that you can post something so pointed and direct... try hugging the homeless once in a while and eating cold beans out of a can you eliteist!

Just kidding man... this goes back to an incident a day ago lol.:mug:

Canning jars are made to hold a vacuum seal. So, they'd be ok for flat (I mean) REAL ale.

Mason jars are great for canning and fun for drinking. As those before me have noted, They are not suitable for botting.

I also store powdered ingredients like yeast nutrient in mason jars so they are airtight, visible, and easy to measure from.

The pressure in the jar from carbonation will cause the lid to bow outward, release pressure, and make the beer go flat. This I know from experience.

I bottled an irish stout in mason jars and none of them exploded.Had some that didn't carbonate due to leakage. The ones that did carbonate were just fine.
