Hey guys,

So I am going to attempt my first All Grain batch in a about a month when I get home from college. I just ordered a Blichmann mash tun, can't wait to put it to good use!

I just have one newbie question: If I want to mash about 13 lbs. of grain at 152F, what temp should I bring my water to before adding the grains?

Thanks, and cheers!

Wow, going Blichman right out of the AG box, that's commitment. No one can answer your question as it depends on your grain temp. There are plenty of online calculators that you plug in a few numbers to get your strike water temp.

Go to Tastybrew.com. They have a mash calculator, among other handy ones. You can enter the desired temp, pounds of grain, and water-to-grain ratio. Also useful for calculating step mashes.
