I'm trying my first Marzen brew today and realized I didn't have enough of the Hallertau hops I was intending to use. Basically I have almost enough for the initial addition but nothing for the final addition. I know Saaz is a commonly used variety with Marzen recipes and while I don't have that on hand I do have Sterling which has a similar flavor profile but a little higher on the AA. Do you think this will make a good substitution if I scale the amount back a tad?

I'm thinking

1 oz Hallertau @ 60
10 g Sterling @ 30

something like that

Yes, I think it will be fine. Just make sure you final ibu's are appropriate.

Yep, a Marzen should be 20-28 range and my recipe is 24 so I think it should be pretty good, thanks!
