Just received my March pump I ordered on-line. To my surprise it did not come with a mounting bracket. I found a mounting bracket on the web for $55, which is ridiculous considering the pump was $120. Any suggestions on how to mount this pump? Should the pump inlet/outlet be installed in the horizontal or vertical position?

you will want the in on the bottom and the out facing up.

I would consider a large stainless band-clamp that will go around the motor and whatever you are mounting it to. No way I would spend $55 for a stamped steel bracket.
Ditto on FSR402's suggestion as to mounting direction too.

I mounted a flat plate on the brewstand and drilled a hole in it. Remove the pump head, hold it up to the plate and trace for the 4 holes. Basically, I sandwiched the mounting plate between the metal motor housing and the plastic pump head. I did have to use slightly longer screws.

Curious... where did you get the pump?

I ordered it through a buddy who happens to be a pump rep. He gave me a discount.
Considering the pump is $120 right now at austin homebrew, WITH a bracket, it sounds like either he didn't get you such a great deal, or the AHB deal is even better than it seems :p

It's super ghetto, and certainly temporary (although it has been temporary for almost a year now ;) )...

Just 2x4 with some gray weatherstripping to hold it in place.

I should have mentioned that my March pump has the bronze pump head, not the Ryton Plastic pump head. I looked at the March pump on the Austin Home brew website and mine does not have that bracket. Mine is configured like the one Jester369 posted. The March pump website does not even list the bracket on the repair part list.

Where can I get a "slip sleeve" bracket?

How does that slip sleeve work? From the photo it looks like it would allow a pre-existing pump bracket to slip in. Will it attach to pumps without the bracket?

I also bought a pump with a bronze head that showed up without any bracket on it. It seemed like a good deal at the time. I've been planning to make something like Jester369 did, but haven't gotten that done yet. If the slip sleeve fits on the wire "box" on the pump, I would rather use a sleeve.

If the pump does not have a base plate as part of the housing, the "slip sleeve" won't do you any good lest you figure out a way to weld or bolt it onto the pump housing.

The "slip sleeve" is meant to be used to hold the pump onto a frame or otherwise without having to permananetly bolt it in place.
