The internet. Obviously it has good points and bad, but overall the sharing of ideas and information is the best thing ever. And it has porn!

Agriculture. This includes the eventual domestication of both plants & animals.
Regards, GF.

Yep. What he said.

Without agriculture we would never have had most of the inventions of mankind, as agriculture was what took the burden off of civilization of doing nothing but scrabbling around all day trying to get enough food to survive.

In specific regarding the Industrial Revolution, it is said the humble but mighty potato was what actually gave society the latitude and where-with-all to embrace those innovations to industry.

Fire took us far ... but agriculture unlocked our potential.

This question has already been answered 3 times. It was clearly 'Yoga Pants'.

See - I even found this on the internet.

We can close this thread now. :D

That is what keeps us civil. Let it go out and see what happens.

So, you a constant or variable speed kinda guy?

I haven't had a chance to try a variable speed device yet. So my answer would be a tentative "constant speed".

I have found that more HP is better, though. "Battery-Powered" is a signal to keep shopping.

Um. There are "good" yoga pants, and then there are "NOT GOOD!" yoga pants. Walk around Wal-mart and see what I mean.

Yoga pants, and similarly, the sweater are both lovely inventions. However, I have to say at the ripe old age of 34, that the Diaper Genie is absolutely the best invention humanity has come up with.

Id say its:

1) Diaper Genie
2) the thong
3) the aluminum pop can

This order. Agriculture has far fewer tangible effects on my day to day life than the above.

If you're looking for Yoga pants at Walmart, you're looking in the wrong place. Either way, it's not right to blame all yoga pants for the sins of a few...

BTW - thank you for not adding a picture to your post. :D

Your kid is still young enough that you haven't experienced a 'real' diaper yet. To paraphrase Bill Cosby, 'God will eventually put odor in the poo poo'. :D

As for agriculture - remove the all that fiber (made available by agriculture) from your child's diet and watch what happens to your Diaper Genie. There's a tangible benefit for you! :rockin:

The home brewing machine! Home brewing is not something they understand but it has created us. It has made us machines...more of us then there is of them?! They can't stop the home brewing machine...stop the machine...no hearts but at least we're machines.

I just watched "How Beer Saved the World" on Netflix. It seems that barley was cultivated to make beer a couple of thousand years before bread was invented. Ergo ipso facto beer came first, civilization and yoga pants followed.

Yup. Beer fermentation proceeded bread by about 3,000 years! So it seems they had to learn fermentation before leavened bread could be made. It makes sense when you think about it. but beware...there's things inside without a care! So hold me...until it sleeps...:drunk::D

Nah man ... it's gotta be "******* and Beer" by Frank Zappa.
I was so impressed with this song that when I was young I could recite it end to end. (Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie was the only other 'ballad' I could do this with).
Listen to this all the way thru. Priceless.

So without further adieu ... ******* and Beer by uncle Frank ...

Well, what do you think it is?

I would of course first say alcohol, but that is something that can occur naturally, indeed that is probably how it was first discovered. :mug:

This question could be broken down into two separate but related questions: what is man's greatest discovery, and what is man's greatest invention? I've got two answers to both:

Discovery? 1. Wet grain ferments. 2. You can eat animals.
Invention? 1. Beer. 2. Barbecue.

Pasteurization. By far the greatest and most widely used invention in modern society.
