Malt extract agar powder?

I found through multiple google searches that you can buy Malt extract agar powder. As anyone used this? It is suppose to be ideal for fungi and yeast. Could i just boil this with water and make the slant without adding dried malt extract?

yep that what we use in micro labs and yeast genetics labs

Well i called the company i was going to get the free bottle from and they said do not use it for anything consumable cause they dont test it. I was afraid of using it with the chance it was manufactured on the same equipment as something else harmful so I passed on the bottle. $10 to buy agar and DME is worth the assurance of not getting anyone sick off my beer
