Just bought a 4lb can of Muntons Bock Beer. It recommended adding malt extract, but didn't say how much, to make a 5 gallon batch. So, I bought 3lbs Amber Dry Malt Extract.

My questions:

How much Amber DME do I add, and how do you know this?
How can I estimate the O.G. based on these ingridients (i.e. what software or online calculators do you use).
What type of extract is most likely used in this kit? (dark, amber?)

I bought 2x 11.4g packets of Lager yeast. Should I use both packets?

Basically I'm asking this: "I bought this kit and want to know how I can use this kit to make a kick-ass bock (since the directions on the back of it are vague and crappy), and how do you all calculate the estimated O.G. and estimated F.G.?

THANKS VERY MUCH!

www.beercalculus.com can give you a pretty good estimation as to OG and FG. I just punched in 4 lbs generic LME and 3 lbs generic DME and put in Saflager S-23 as your yeast (since you didn't specify) and it gave an OG of of around 1.056 and a FG of around 1.015. That should be pretty close anyway.

I have no clue what type of extract should be used along with the Muntons Bock extract, but I think your choice of amber DME should be just fine. Do you have a good place to lager?
