Anyone have a good low calorie recipe I can use as an alternative to my high calorie usuals? I am planning on making AHS Session Series Blond Ale with the following adjustments intended to reduce calories and maintain flavor:

* Increase the hops by 2oz in the 60 minute boil
* Reducing the malt dextrin from 8oz to 4oz
* Adding an extra 1/2 gal of water to the primary

Keep in mind that this beer is not intended to be "fantistic." I would just like something light to drink in the summer months with about 120 calories. SWMBO has demanded it.

Bottled: DFH 90 min IPA
Primary: Belgian White Beer
Next: Low Cal Summer Beer

an ordinary bitter.

5.50 lb maris otter
0.75 lb simpsons medium

1.5oz EKG at 60
1oz EKG at 0

should be less than 140 calories

Why are you increasing bittering hops by 2 oz? What kind of hops are they even? You'll create an unbalanced beer at that point.

Because I like hops and thought it would help overcome the lightness of the beer.

Im using 1oz crystal, 1oz crystal and 1oz amarillo.

Plus, Im really not sure what an unbalanced beer taste like. Maybe I will like it?

Here is what I recently did.

7.5 pounds pilsen
1# candi sugar added to fermenter to encourage attenuation
15 IBU whatever hops you like
Belgian Yeast WLP500 ( used cultured chimay)
Ferment it warm to dry it out

5 gallon batch

1.040 or so down below 1.010 FG...nice and tasty. Out of all the beers I have in my pipeline, this is becoming the one I reach for the most. SWMBO likes it with an orange in it...
