It's starting to get pretty good around here! I went in the liquor store a couple of weeks ago and noticed lots of new beers, then went in last Friday and there were even more.

Unibroue, Acme, Snake Dog IPA, Great Divide, some $13 beers from Rogue and tons more!

We've actually got as much or more selection than I've seen at some of those huge liquor stores down in Dallas.

We can't buy them cold, but that's not a huge deal. It only takes a little longer for a beer to get drinkable cold than it does for a refridgerated one to warm up to a drinkable temp.

The only fly in the ointment is that this is at the biggest and best liquor store in the state. A lot of the smaller ones don't even carry Sierra Nevada yet. And a good beer at a restaurant? Fuhgeddaboudit.

Ah, I thought you would key in on that.

It's Byrons. They are at 23rd and I-235. Or 23rd and Broadway, however you look at it. Wouldn't be too hard to get to from MWC. You'd just come West on I-40 to 235 go north and exit on 23rd going west. It'll be on your left.

I work about a half a mile from there. If you come over and have a chance let me know. We could have lunch or I could meet you there after work and just say hi.

Wonder if this has anything to do with those Anheuser-Busch buyout rumors. I don't have the link handy but apparently many microbreweries have gone into a DISTRIBUTION deal (not buyout) with AB, thus enabling the micro to have a much farther reach. I can't say that I've noticed it here, but if it can enable beers to travel farther (without sacrificing quality), I'm all for it.

I think it does. A guy that works at another store was telling me that they are finally waking up and realizing that there is a market for good beer here.

Maybe they'll do the same in your state.

Congrats on the good news! Have you had Herculeus Double IPA from Great Divide Brewing Co? That has to be my favortite of theirs, but the Titan IPA is good too. Oh but wait i had the Hibernation Ale from them as well last night, and i must say i found that quite enjoyable too. i enjoy their brews :)

i tried Acme for the first time in Cali and i wasnt impressed, though i only tried one style.. Pale Ale i believe (surprise surprise right?)

Cool, thanks! I'll have to check it out one of these days. I'll try to give you a holler oneof these days. Things have been nuts recently.

Yeah, they've got the Hercules and Yeti, but that's it. I wish we could get the Isolation here. That's a nice winter beer.

No problem Swami, just let me know if you're even in the area and have some time. I stay pretty dang hooked up myself, so who knows if I can break free when you are.

i havnt had the Isolation, though i havnt seen it, so i'll have to keep my eyes open for it because i think that the Great Divide can satisify- i just have to try the brew.

What's the Isolation like?

Kind of hoppy, but mainly well balanced with a nice malt taste to boot. The thing I like about it is that it's a seasonal, but doesn't seem to have any funky ingredients like orange peel or hazelnut. Not that those are necessarily bad, but it's nice to see someone do it different.
