My google skills are failing me today.

A couple years ago I read a really great post on someone's blog or website about taking old yeast, autolysing it on purpose, then using that autolysed yeast as nutrient for a new yeast starter (with fresh pitch of yeast).

Has anyone ever stumbled across this page and could post the link?

You are wanting to make "brewer's yeast"; this is a supplement/flavoring/superfood made mostly from dead brewery yeast.
I am not sure what particular article you are after; google yeast hulls or yeast ghost or brewer's yeast superfood or debittered brewer's yeast.
I have heard of people throwing old yeast in the boil but it isn't really needed in a beer.

You probably are using the wrong search term as you want dead yeast, not autolysed yeast. Autolysed yeast is rotting yeast, not what you want as nutrient as it will smell bad.
