Why can't I find any panel mount RTD or thermocouple temperature display units at a reasonable price. I can buy a PID for $45 but all of the 'simple' displays seem to cost >$100. There are several handheld displays for <$40, but I really don't want to velcro several of them onto my nice panel.
I know the BCS and Brewtroller will monitor and display several temperatures, but that isn't the way I want to go (yet). Has anybody seen a cheep one. I don't need alarms, logging, low/hi or any bells or whistle - just a simple display.
thanks
jason

Ebay.....$27.99 with 7.00 shipping

Uses a "K" type thermocouple

Several others available on ebay I see. Several decent ones at a good price point for what I need

And I was feeling so proud of myself for finally getting over the urge to look there for electronics.

Thanks

I picked up a red-lion panel mount thermometer on eBay pretty cheap, other than that I would recomend a cheap PID.

Sorry to dig this up, but would something like this work?

I guess I would need a way to control what is displayed from my ARM9 ... not sure if it would be worth the trouble?

Basically, I'm looking to have 2 PID's to show my heating element temperatures and wort/water temps, but I also have 3 inline temperature sensors planned for inside the HX coils and mash. I want to display those temperatures as 'read only' on my control panel. Anyone have any thoughts on a way to make this work?

That's just a display. It's got 8 wires on the back to individually light the number segments.
You'll need a driver circuit to make it show numbers, and some sort of logic circuit to translate the output of the ARM9 to feed the LED driver circuit.

So technically, yea, that's a display. But it's not capable of displaying anything without some supporting hardware (And I have no idea what that would be)
