I’m in west Texas now. I’d like to try my hand at hop growing. Neomexicanus is probably my best shot. Any preferred vendors? Tips?

Hops need lots of water and sunshine.I ordered 5 plants. We’ll see how they do in west Texas…
Yes. And a few other places. I just hope they grow here in west Texas.Wasn't Neomexicanus found growing in the high NM desert?
If I recall the story it was in that area but in an oasis of sorts in a creek bed. I feel like the hop variety was named after the creek as well. Maybe willow creek or something like thatWasn't Neomexicanus found growing in the high NM desert?

Sorry to hear that man. Did you have access to water? Like municipal or well. Hops are full sun plants and very hardy to begin with (most rhizome based plants are; wisteria, bamboo, poison oak/ivy, etc?) as long as you could physically keep them watered, they should be ok for the most part. That said, I understand that’s a huge undertaking for growing small scale. Here’s a update…
I failed miserably. Hot, windy and dry. They all died. I think they needed more shade here.
I’m planning on moving to Alabama next year. Hopefully I’ll do better there.
