I saw a calculator where you could input your grain bill, mash size and a few other parameters and it calculated the min. kettle size required.

I can't find this link now and would appreciate any help in locating this!

The priceless BIAB calculator will warn you if your kettle is too small, but you can add a simple sparge step to overcome a small kettle.

2 times batch size is a good rule of thumb for kettle size, unless making a large beer.
