Hi everyone, I'm looking to brew a nice beer to celebrate the birth of my son, who was born yesterday, and also to celebrate the birth of my nephew 1 month ago. I'm looking for something that everyone will like, but also has some flavor. I plan to brew this beer and give it away to friends and family rather than cigars.
Any one have any suggestions on recipes, or types of beer I should brew?

I just brewed a beer to celebrate the birth of my nephew! I brewed a delicious pilsner. For a 10 gal batch with 75% eff it's simply;

19lb pils malt
2.5 oz Sterling 60 min
1 oz sterling 5 min.
Saflager 34/70

OG 1.045

Most people don't like flavor. That's how bud light got so popular . But your best bet would be a pils, blonde or a wheat .

Congrats! How about a patersbier for the new Pater? Simple 100% Pilsner fermented with Trappist yeast. It's simple enough for the BMC folks, but the yeast gives it complexity that the beer folks will appreciate.

This was a hit this summer at my house
Recipe Type: All Grain
Yeast: WLP400 Belgian Wit Ale
Batch Size (Gallons): 5
Original Gravity: 1.048
Final Gravity: 1.012
IBU: 27
Boiling Time (Minutes): 60
Color: 4.38
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 2
Tasting Notes: Refreshing, easy drinking, with a slice a lemon really shines

5 LB of 2 row
5 LB of White Wheat
.5 of Flaked Wheat

1 OZ of Cascade @ 60 minutes.

Mashed at 154 F for 60 minutes.

ABV 4.79% but that is based on eff. of 60% using brew shop crushed grains- you can adjust grains as needed or have something with bit more kick if you are getting better efficiency.

To be fair, that has worked for me. ~20 IBU of mellow hops and sorted.

Congrats!

I've brewed a few amber ales that were well received at gatherings. Both with enough malt backbone to keep them tasty but about 5% and only lightly first wort and late boil hopped to keep them approachable.
