Anyone happen to have any idea what variety of hops Mr. Beer uses in their Long Play IPA? I find it to have not enough bite for me and have a can sitting around still and was wondering so I could try to up the bitterness a bit, but don't want to just pick any hop and make some weird mix.

You're probably safe using most American "C" hops -- Cascade, Centennial, Chinook. For that matter, you could use any "modern" hops often associated with IPA, like Simcoe or Citra or Mosaic. If it's just canned, hopped extract, it doesn't really matter what was used to bitter it.
