How do you figure out how much LME equals DME? For example, a receipe calls for 8 pounds of DME. I want to use LME because its cheaper, do i just order 8 pounds or is there a conversion? Thanks.

I'm new here, so I'm not sure... but can someone please confirm that the above quoted second post in this thread is actually backwards? Don't want noobs messing up their brews. You need more LME because of the water in it, not less... right?Chello said:I'v always heard that 1lb DME = .8lb LME where the other 20% is the water thats left in the LME. So you need more LME to match the same amount of DME.
