has anyone used a LME as a starter for a Wyeast smack pack? Everything calls for a DME.
Planning on doing a late extract addition on this particular brew (hefe with starting OG of 1.049-.053)

I don't see any issues with this but would like to double check.

thanks in advance

Nothing wrong with, just follow the same instructions. DME is generally used because you can buy it in bulk and it stores better

I use it - just remember that LME is 15-20% water (by weight) so you'll need that much more to be at the same gravity. Probably doesn't make much difference in a starter, but I compensate by adding a bit more LME than I would of DME.
