Liquid substitute for S-05?

I'm brewing an IPA soon and have used Safale-05 with great success in the past but would like to start making starters. What would be a good liquid yeast equivalent to S-05 that I could make a starter with. I want a nice clean finish to the beer. My understanding is that there is no need to make starters with dry yeast.

Wyeast 1056 is the equivilent, as is WLP001 for the most part...

correct on no starters needed for dry yeast.

White Labs 001 California Ale or WYeast 1056 American Ale, same strain as the dry 05.

If you want to use a liquid yeast, why not try something new and exciting??

You could always use half a dry yeast packet and make a starter...

Except that I've read on here that starters may not be the best thing for dry yeast. Have you experienced different?

I don't want to try anything to crazy as this'll be my first starter batch. I've never made starters before.
