does anybody make their owm liqueurs. i know its not brewing but im looking to swap some recipes. Anybody interested.

I've only made a kahlua liquer and a bailey's type clone. The both turned out well. If you don't already have those recipes, I can dig them out (I think!) of the recipe file.

i have them thanks. I have a really good raspberry one if u want . i was looking for a few specific ones irish mist, southern comfort

i may be interested in a kahlua or bailey's clone

is there a significant cost savings since those liqueurs are rather expensive?

what is the general process?

if you have some time, please post a recipe...i really would like to check that out.

thx :)

Kahlua:
Recipe 1:
1 quart water
3 cups sugar
12 level tablespoons instant coffee
3 cups 100 proof vodka
3 tablespoons REAL vanilla extract

Bring water, sugar, coffee to a boil and simmer 1 hour. Cool. Add vodka and vanilla. Bottle and use. (I bottled in a clean milk jug)

Recipe 2:
3 cups water
4 cups sugar
1/2 cup freeze dried coffee
1 gallon 80 proof vodka
1 vanilla bean, split.
Bring water and sugar to boil and boil 20 minutes. Cool and add other ingredients. Shake and stir to completely mix. Cap and see and let sit for two weeks. Shake and stir before using.

Cream Liquer (AKA Bailey's)
1 can 14 0unces Eagle Brand milk (sweetened condensed milk)
1 cup dark rum
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup chocolate syrup
4 teaspons instant coffee
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla (REAL vanilla, not imatation)
1/4 tsp coconut extract.
Whirl in blender at high speed until mixed and smooth. Store in refrigerator tightly covered for up to two weeks. Stir/shake before serving.

(I HATE coconut so I left it out but did the recipe exactly otherwise.)
