Trying my first AG batch in a foreign country and supplies are limited. I only have some Weyermann Malts available. I want to make a porter if possible.
Malts I have available are:
Vienna Malt
Pilsner
CaraHell
CaraFa II (not special-regular husked)
Coopers Amber Liquid Malt (I want AG but can use this if I need to)
Hops I have are:
Nugget
Galena
Apollo
NZ Cascade
Liberty
Willamette
EKG
Challenger
Yeasts I have are:
Nottingham
Safbrew S33
Safale So5
Questions: Can I make a decent porter with these malts? If so, recipe recommendations for 5 gallon batch. How much CaraFa should I use? What should my mash temp be for a full bodied beer? Do I need a protein rest for any of the malts? All suggestions appreciated. Cheers
