Likely infection, please advise

Racked onto some cherries about 5 days ago. Went to bottle today and saw this catastrophe.

What exactly am I looking at?

How were the cherries handled? Frozen or freSh? Also helps to keep the fruit submerged by gently stirring atleast once a day.

Definitely some sort of infection but might still be drinkable

It's definitely an infection- probably due to the huge headspace in the bucket.

Some would say to let it turn into a sour and let it ride, but I've never heard of an accidental sour turning out good.

I'll leave it to the sour heads here to tell you whether it's worth a squirt or not, if it were me I'd probably burn it with fire

Your looking at too much head space in secondary, and probably the result of some unsanatized cherries

Probably some mold in there too from not submerging the fruit completely? It's quite pretty in its own way.

I'm not seeing any mold, but there's definitely some bug strain having a field day in there.

Compared to some of the fugly brews found here, that one looks tame...ish.

Who knows, could be an epic tasting brew!
