In BJCP 5C, Dopplebock, it mentions two versions: a light and a dark.

I've seen and had several dark versions but want to make a light version. All I have to go on is that Pils and Vienna malt should make up the grist, noble hops and decoction mashing.

Anyone have any recipes I could start from??

Thanks!

I made a traditional dopplebock using only german Munich and crystal 120 (the darkest i crystal i could find). It turned out alright, but i think it needed a cleaner lager yeast than the White Labs Old Bavarian strain that i'd used.

I think thats a somewhat close in idea to a 'light' dopplebock. Or are you meaning a REALLY light one? like SRM <12?

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but several breweries in my region make lighter-colored Bock, and most resemble strong Märzen very closely, think Imperial Märzen or so. You could try simply upping the grain bill of a Märzen recipe you like and decoction mash it.
