Alright, so are there any other Chubbie fans out there who aren't afraid to put some homebrew on the line? I need some wagering action. C'mon, three beers to whichever team wins the series. Very simple... who's on?

I'll take your bet. How do you want to do this? Dude and I are betting a $10 bottle of store-bought. Do you want to do three homebrews? My Barleywine should be nicely aged by then.

So I'll PM both of you my address so you can send me the bottles.

Today is the 25th anniversary of the Brewers' only pennant in 1982. Interestingly enough, although they had a "murderers row" batting order. people forget that their pitching was not all that outstanding. They won lots of games from 1978 to 1981, but it wasn't until they added pitchers like Rollie Fingers, Pete Vukovich and (late in the season in '82) Don Sutton, that they made it into the playoffs. Even then, they almost blew it and had to beat Baltimore on the last day of the season to get in. Then in the ALCS, which was then a best of 5 series, they lost the first two games and had to win 3 in a row to make it to the World Series. Rollie Fingers was hurt at the end of the year. They lost game 7 of the Series when the bullpen couldn't hold on.

Today is also the 50th anniversary of Milwaukee's only World Series championship. In contrast to the Brewers, the Braves had Warren Spahn and Lew Burdette. Burdette pitched game 7 for the Milwaukee Braves on two days rest to beat the Yankees in New York. He had previously also won games 2 and 5. Spahn lost game 1, but won game 4.

As did the '82 Brewers, the current Brewers have a lineup full of very productive hitters. They can be very exciting to watch, but until they get some pitching don't save your money for post-season tickets. They'll never get there. This year's team hit over 200 homeruns, yet struggled to have a winning record.

LOL...fat ass POS Estrada is gone, and then we signed Kendall all in a matter of 24 hours. Trading that lard ass was addition by subtraction in itself, getting Kendall is icing on the cake.

Jenkins is history too, thank GAWD.

If we can shore up the pen, I'm feeling really good about our chances next year.

Doesn't surprise me. Estrada is pretty much known as a boat-rocking clubhouse cancer wherever he goes. Kendall will be a good fit, albeit only for a year. It's gonna drive me buggy, though, watching his at-bats, the way he wiggles his fingers around the bat the way he does. It's almost as annoying as watching Garciaparra fiddle with his batting gloves for twenty minutes between pitches.:p

What'd you hear about Jenkins? I've heard nothing about that one...

Woo-Hoo! Mensch is gone!!!

clicky

Now put Hart in left, Gwynn in center, Gross in right, and have Hall riding the pines if they can't trade him, and life will be good!

This could help. He's not lights-out like he used to be because of injuries, but you never know........

Bah, hah, hah! As long as he's no longer putting on a Red Sox jersey I'm happy. What a friggin' turd he was and to think the Red Sox traded a fairly decent prospect pitcher in Gabbard for that fat ******. Jesus, they would have been better off sticking Gabbard in the pen for the rest of the season. At least then they could trade him for Santana.

Hey now, you can't do that! You might offend someone!!! We have to be nice to the n00bs, apparently. Feelings might get hurt!

Oooh, now I feel the love!

Well, I did like Jenkins even though he hasn't done much lately. I'm really hoping that some big changes will lift the Brewers back into having a competitive edge. I'm looking forward to some great games next year.

Don't worry, I can hold my own. I'm used to a slightly rougher forum than this one :)

Yeah, when the Crew takes at least 2 out of 3 from them in interleague play. Again.

You need to lay off the homebrew ... it's makin' you silly ;)

That team has made some outstanding moves this season ... acquiring Cabrera, Willis and Renteria!! Are you kidding? They now have Three legitimate offensive MVP Candidates on their team with Sheffield, Ordonez and Cabrera. Hell Pudge will bat 9th, can you believe that.

A healthy Rogers, Verlander, Bonderman and Willis with Zumaya coming out of the pen is a pretty nasty threat.

I'm a Red Sox fan, but if there's one team that's scary, it's the tigers.

Wheew. Almost thought I lost this when I moved. Somewhere in this big arsed thread I said I was there! Wife's been spring cleaning.

Packers are done; think spring training.

I had to bump this thread.

That was one helluva homestand. The crew is on a nice roll right now (unfortunately, the Cubs are doing just as well) 9-1 in their last ten games. Hope they can keep it going on the upcoming road trip......

BTW, my new favorite Brewer is Ryan Braun, and it's not because he is an awesome ballplayer that is here for at least another eight years (although that certainly helps). It's because his mom is a HOMEBREWER!!!!!!!!

That rocks!

So did the homestand too. Finally the boys are finding their swings. It sure took long enough.

BTW, my favorite brewer is Corey Hart. he needs to be the next guy the Brewers lock up for a few years. I <3 Corey Hart.
