I had my safale s 04 yeast peak after 24 hours in my 5 gallon batch of cider and it required a last minute blow off valve. Now I have a lot of krausen residue stuck to the top of my carboy where the airspace is.

Can leave the residue there till I go to secondary fermentation in a week or two or is a hot bed for bacteria or microbes therfore requiring cleaning now. If not I'm just going to switch the blow off tube to a normal air lock. Thanks for the help guys

Here is a picture of the residue.

I get krausen like this a lot with fresh juice and ale yeast. With wheat yeast its even more, requiring a blow off tube for several days. I leave it alone until I crash it, which can be anywhere from 6 to 30 days later. Havent had any problems
