I was wondering, what do you guys think makes a good leader?
What qualities are important in a working environment?

Just feeling out my self assessment for appraisal in a hour and randomly thought of this question (whats not actually connected to what i'm feeling out)

Just wanted to know your thoughts

The Marine Corps defined 14 leadership traits (we had to memorize them, using the acronym JJ DID TIE BUCKLE). Here they are

Patience, listening, humility, clear and easy communications. Not necessarily in that order.

When placed in supervisory roles, I like to think that I work for the people who are subordinate to me, not the guy who signs the paycheck. They tell me what they need and I supply them with those things to make us all successful.

That is one of the best things I've ever read on leadership and I've read a lot including the Steven R. Covey stuff. Thanks for posting this. I should have tried to be a Marine when I was young, now I'm too old .
