Hey,

I've just got myself a larder fridge to keep better temperature control, my question is:

Will I be okay using a glass shelf to sit the bucket on or will it take longer for the bucket to heat up rather than using a wooden shelf?
 
I thought the whole point of a fridge was to keep the bucket cool?
I wouldn't worry about the heat transfer properties of the shelf, but whether a glass shelf will hold the weight.
FWIW I decked my fridge out with wooden shelving for this reason.

I agree it is a weight issue
once the mass of a wooden shelf is cooled it will help keep the temp constant anyway
build a shelf that is stable and holds the weight, I removed the bottom drawers and made a platform that was supported by the bottom instead of trying to support 40 plus pounds of a fermenter full of beer from the flimsy plastic indents the shelves fit on
