I don't know why I didn't think of this before but I just lowered the temp on my two lagers in my chest freezer down from room temp to 34F. I've been checking on them periodically to make sure they're not sucking the starsan from the locks into the beer. They are not, however this morning I noticed one bubble backwards once. This should have occurred to me with the rapid temp change. Do I need to be worried about this? Is it enough to affect the beer? I can try to find a stopper for the carboy but not sure how I'd seal the bucket. I'm hoping there's enough co2 still built up to be protective but I left the lid open for a while so likely not.
