I have never brewed a lager before. I'm planning on a 4 batch brew weekend, all lagers, and filling my ferm fridge. Can someone recommend some of their favorite recipes? I'm looking for all 4 to be different styles, as I really haven't had many commercial lagers.

Thanks!

Tough to go wrong with a Munich Helles for a delicious, easy drinking beer.

Here's a basic recipe:

Target OG: 1.048 (give or take)

88% Pilsner
10% Munich
2% Melanoiden

Mash pretty low to get good attenuation. I think I mashed at 149*F on my last Helles and it went down to 1.009.

For hops go with German noble varieties - I use Hallertauer a lot.

~17 IBU at 60min
~3-5 IBU at 15min

I use WLP838 for all of my lagers. It's particularly good in a Helles. But I'm sure other German lager yeasts would be good as well.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
