I ran out of bottles last week and left my creme ale in the secondary for probably five extra days. Is there any problems associated with leaving the batch in the secondary too long? The beer is fairly clear with a huge cake at the bottom. Plan on bottling today, but want to know if there is anything I should do before. Thanks!

YA I hope it's good. I've never had a cream ale before. It was my second brew, extract with grains. Lots and lots of corn, 1 lb to be exact. I've read a lot of posts on here, never have I seen a recipe with corn. Is this normal for a cream ale?
 
I"ve just brewed a cream ale- and I used flake maize (corn). If it turns out as good as I think it will, I'll post the recipe. It's been in secondary for about a week or 10 days now.

Generally, the longer it is in secondary, the clearer your beer will be. Great for a cream ale!
 
A friend of mine suggested that after I carbonate the batch, I should throw it in the fridge and lager it for a couple of weeks. He said it would clear it up more and also crisp it up. Anyone hear of this technique with a cream ale?
 
That would work. Cream ales can be either ales or lagers. Lagering, even if you brewed it as an ale, will definately help clear it up.

Would it still be a cream ALE? I think it would be a light lager.
